Another homemade breakfast is in the books at Il Borghetto!

We decided to take advantage of a beautiful morning in Tuscany by sitting by the pool and soaking up the sunshine! Here, Mike is swimming.
Here, John is icing his injured foot! Yeppo, the water is a tad CHILLY! For all of you that expressed concern for John’s mysteriously injured foot, it is much better, I am happy to report!
Later in the afternoon we had a wine tasting scheduled at Cesani Winery. One of the owner’s two daughters picked us up (so that John could taste to his heart’s content)! We checked in at the office and proceeded to walk around and enjoy the surroundings!
Here’s a glimpse of the infamous San Gimignano at a distance! (Our destination for tomorrow!)
Our tour guide and wine connoisseur, Antonio, did an awesome job. The entire time he was speaking to us out on the patio, swarms of swallows were diving and gliding around us. It was magical!
The tour of the Cesani wine making process was interesting. It’s the first time any of us had heard of concrete tanks being used to store the wine.

John was thrilled to see our shipment all ready for delivery to the USA! (We wish!)
And FINALLY the tasting part of the tour began — always my favorite!

We are happy to announce that we actually DO have a shipment of Cassini wines being delivered home! PS if you see Rick Steves, you might want to tell him about this one!
We drove to another walled city, Barberino Val D’elsa, for dinner. Although the restaurant, with the AMAZING view, that was recommended was FULLY BOOKED, we found a cafe that served good Italian pizza!
Yes, there’s always time for sun and wine, not to mention PIZZA!!!
CIAO FOR NOW!
Looks like there are different varieties of Italian pizza. Do they have names for the styles? Are some wood fired oven and others just pizza ovens? Interested to know if they have different tastes. Thanks and have fun.
ReplyDeleteWe have noticed different pizza crusts in Italy—all DELICIOUS! We’ve never really asked about names. We’ve only seen pizza ovens—various sizes and shapes!
