SAN GIMIGNANO AND TENUTO TORCIANO WINERY! (Monday, September 6, 2021)

Woke up this morning and Patte discovered our picture made it on the Il Borghetto Facebook page!

We all eagerly participated in Mike’s morning “Italian Pronunciation Workshop”.  Today’s word was San Gimignano!  It took a long while, but we all FINALLY got it—kind of!  (Sohn Jimmy Anoe)  And that’s where we went!  It took some time finding parking, but we made it!

This was the second time John and I have visited San Gimignano, and we LOVE IT!  There’s something for everyone there, and can you guess what that would be for John and Mike?  (A beer was being hidden in the pic below!  Right, Mike?). The boys ate lunch…

and Patte and I waited patiently to continue our “browsing”!

When we arrived back home to Il Borghetto, we put together our own little Happy Hour plate of goodies!  We actually were trying to get rid of the last of our food, since we leave in the morning!  It may have looked pathetic, but it hit the spot!

Shortly after our Happy Hour, we were picked up by a driver for our final wine tasting (and dinner) in Tuscany, at Tenuto Torciano Winery.  We were greeted with glasses of wine and were urged to stroll the gardens.

Our tour guide, Alberto, gave us the rundown of the place and walked us through several of the rooms housing their wine.

He left us to stroll the gardens again while our table was being prepared!  😳

We sat down and Alberto started walking us through each of the wines.

An appetizer plate was served first and he left us to sip all the wines with everything on our plate.  I have never mastered pairing food with wine, so this was kind of fun!

More wines were brought to our table!  Antonio called them the “big boys”!

And then the dinner portion of our evening began!  And the wine portion continued!

The wines were really good and we are happy to report that we have a few bottles heading back to the States for us!  What a great “Last Day In Tuscany” kind of day!

                                                                  CIAO FOR NOW!

  1. Looks divine! When in France, our group always enjoyed a picnic lunch, each contributed something from the local markets. I love all the photos of the streets!
