WATER TAXI, TRAIN, TRAIN, TRAIN, TAXI AND BEAUTIFUL CASTELBELLO! (Sunday, 8-22-2021)

We got up early in the morning to drag our suitcases through the streets of Venice to the water taxis!  Good bye, Venice!

The water taxi took us directly to the train station where John navigated the train schedule for us!  Ahhh, it sure felt good to be on the train (without a glitz) heading to the mountains!

After three train connections (about three hours in total), and a half hour taxi ride, we arrived in a lovely mountain town called Castebello!  Apple orchards and vineyards surround the town, the mountain air is fresh and clean, and our hotel (the Bauhof) is nothing short of ADORABLE!

We walked down the street and enjoyed a delicious German meal at the Gstirnerkeller (we’re in Italy, however we’re in the Tyrolian Region that used to be Austrian).  Our waiter, Daniel, was delightful and spoke enough English to help us order!!

We are in a small “village” so it was fun to watch the locals gather here, speaking their German, drinking their beer and listening to their local accordion players!

CIAO FOR NOW!!
