SAN MARCO SQUARE, MURANO, BURANO AND TORCELLO! (Thursday, 8-19-2021)

What can beat drinking a cup of coffee sitting on San Marco Square in Venice, Italy?  How about drinking a cup of coffee on San Marco Square while listening to beautiful music?

I added the picture of the musicians above because apparently my video didn’t show up!  Darn, I’ll have to figure that Blogger problem out!

After that AMAZING cup of coffee, we boarded a tour boat that took us to the island of  MURANO where we watched the infamous Murano glass being blown!  And then we shopped!

The second island of the day was BURANO where lace is made and where we were greeted by colorful houses!  It was our favorite place—what’s not to like with all the color!  Patte and I needed more time there—the shops were adorable and sold more than just lace!

The church tower in the picture below was leaning…that’s why John and I are leaning!

Our shopping was curtailed by lunch! 🙄 But John and Mike said it was well worth it!!!  Like I said, Patte and I needed more time in BURANO!

Their food and drink looked YUMMY!!!

The third island we visited was TORCELLO, established in 452AD.  It is considered the birth place of Venice.  A whole lot of history was on this island—Chloe, we needed you to be our tour guide!

We arrived back to the Venice port for the (short) walk to our flat.  Two hours later (and 12,000 steps) we made it back!  Have I mentioned the “streets” and canals of Venice all look alike and resemble THE WORLD’S LARGEST MAZE?

Ahhhh, but then there was a fine Venetian dinner awaiting us!  We felt like we earned this one!!!

CIAO FOR NOW!
And thanks for stopping by!

  1. Tours are so informative, but they never allow enough time for shopping! Glassblowing and lace-making sounds so cool. Soak it all up!!
