V E N I C E, OH YEA BABY! (Wednesday, 8-18-2021)

We made it to V E N I C E, OH YEA BABY! and what an AMAZING flight (Germany to Venice) it was—right smack over the snow covered Alps!  Be sure to ask Patte about the view— NOT!  She slept the entire 45 minute flight!

We were picked up at the Venice Airport by a water taxi (how cool is that!) and transported along the Adriatic Sea to a dock a short distance from our Airbnb!

What a beautiful sight!  We couldn’t believe that we were FINALLY in Venice, Italy!  And what a sight the four of us made, all in matching wine colored “Italy is calling and I must go” t-shirts, schlepping our luggage along the cobblestone sidewalks!  We definitely screamed “TOURISTS”!

Have I mentioned how beautiful Venice is?  We felt like we were in a movie set!  

We met with Leonardo (our Airbnb host) who was simply delightful!  He walked us through all the amenities, taught us how to use the tiny coffee maker, plug in the mosquito repellant gizmo, and recommended several nearby restaurants!  The flat we rented is adorable and the location is perfect!  We were all exhausted from our overnight flight (Chicago to Germany) with ABSOLUTELY NO SLEEP, so we chose a nearby restaurant and shared a delicious authentic Italian meal!  And wine, we can’t forget the wine!  

And YES, it was as good as it looks!  Nothing but nothing beats sitting at an Italian cafe, drinking Italian wine, eating Italian food, watching Italian people walking by speaking Italian!  It feels SO GOOD to be in V E N I C E, OH YEA BABY!
